From a Passion for Learning to Educational Leadership: The Story of Anthony Hamblin

Behind every great school are educators who believe in the power of learning and the growth of every student. Anthony Hamblin, Head of the Primary Years Program (PYP) at H-FARM International School, is one of these visionary leaders. His professional journey has been driven by a passion for teaching and a commitment to creating an inclusive and inspiring educational environment.

A Journey Through International Education

With over ten years of experience in the PYP, Anthony has worked in international schools in Qatar, India, and Azerbaijan, taking on increasingly significant leadership roles as a PYP Coordinator and Head of Program. His academic journey, culminating in a Master’s in Educational Leadership and Management from the University of Bath, reinforced his belief that school leadership was his true calling.

Beyond his role at H-FARM, Anthony is a member of the CIS and NEASC accreditation teams, supporting schools worldwide in their certification processes. Additionally, he is an IBEN Workshop Leader, meaning he not only teaches students but also trains other educators, contributing to the growth of the global educational community.

Inspiration Rooted in Personal Experience

Anthony’s passion for teaching has deep roots in his personal experiences. As a child, he found school challenging, and it wasn’t until he was 16 that he was diagnosed with dyslexia. This turning point helped him understand the value of personalized and inclusive education.

While working as a teaching assistant in London, he realized that his true passion was supporting students with special educational needs. For this reason, during his training as an early years teacher, he focused heavily on inclusive education, developing strategies and tools to help every student reach their full potential.

“I want all students to be happy, safe, and motivated to learn. And that’s one of the reasons I chose to become an educational leader: inclusion shouldn’t be just for the youngest learners, but for all students across the school.”

For Anthony, the Primary Years Program is not just about preparing students for exams; it teaches them to ask questions driven by a genuine desire to learn. He believes this approach is crucial for preparing students for the future in a rapidly evolving world:

“We don’t know what jobs will exist when our students complete the DP. Some of them want to become YouTubers or influencers, but these careers may no longer exist. Our role is to prepare them for any challenge by developing their critical thinking, communication, and problem-solving skills.”

An Unforgettable Moment: The PYP Exhibition

Among the most meaningful experiences of his career, Anthony fondly remembers the first time he participated in the PYP Exhibition as a mentor. Helping students transform global and local issues into real-world actions was a revelation for him:

“Seeing such young students tackle complex issues with awareness and passion was incredible. I realized that we are shaping future changemakers and peacemakers, and that what we do every day has a huge impact on their lives.”

Between Nature and Science Fiction: Life Outside the Classroom

Outside of school, Anthony enjoys immersing himself in the Italian countryside with his family, exploring nature on foot or by bike along the Piave River. But there is another lifelong passion that has always been with him: science fiction.

“I’m a huge Star Trek fan—a true Trekkie! It’s my way of relaxing and finding inspiration in distant worlds.”

An Education That Prepares for the Future

Through his commitment to educational innovation, Anthony plays a key role in the growth of H-FARM International School. His story proves that a high-quality education is not just about knowledge but about fostering curious, self-aware students who are ready to make a difference in the world.

“Learning isn’t just about school. It’s a lifelong journey. And our job is to make sure that every student has the tools to navigate it with confidence and passion.”
