Council of International Schools

Council of International Schools

The Council of International Schools (CIS) is a global membership community of schools and higher education institutions, exploring and developing effective practices to foster healthy, interculturally competent global citizens.

The Council of International Schools (CIS) is a global membership community shaping the future of international education, that includes more than 1,545 schools and universities, representing 124 countries. The international accreditation protocol is particularly rigorous and is based on adherence to and alignment with the values and standards of the association’s Code of Ethics, which embraces the United Nations Declaration of Human Rights as a clear statement of moral intent and incorporates the recommendations of the International Task Force on Child Protection.

From 2024, we are a school member of the Council of International Schools.

Accreditation by the Council of International Schools is recognized worldwide as proof of high-quality international education. It is designed for schools that wish to integrate self-assessment and external review into their continuous improvement.

Among the members of the Council of International Schools in Italy, there are currently 14 schools, including 9 International Schools that offer International Baccalaureate programmes.

For the association, the search for the most suitable type of school for each student is very important. Therefore, it aims to support parents and students in making this important decision by identifying specific areas of interest.

CIS school members are required to adhere to the points contained in the Code of Ethics, which outlines the moral principles that should guide their conduct and professional practice.

Specifically, all CIS member schools are required to:

  • Keep the promises made in their guiding statements, policies, contracts, and promotional materials;
  • Commit to achieving academic excellence;
  • Foster a culture of care where the education, safety, and well-being of students and others come first;
  • Comply with applicable laws and regulations;
  • Respect the dignity and equality of all individuals, groups, and cultures;
  • Promote global citizenship.
