Bringing Stories to Life: M1’s Journey from Writing to Mentorship
After delving into the magic of fables and fairytales, our M1 students embarked on a creative journey of their own, crafting original stories and bringing them to life. Their experience extended beyond writing as they visited Grafiche Tintoretto in Villorba, where they explored the history and evolution of printing within the PYP transdisciplinary theme “Where We Are in Place and Time.” Through this hands-on visit, students not only witnessed the intricate book-making process—from layout to final print—but also gained insight into how printed materials have shaped communication, education, and art throughout history.
This exploration deepened their understanding of how technology and cultural expression evolve over time, while also fostering a sense of connection to their community’s identity. But their learning didn’t stop there. Taking on the role of mentors, M1 students guided Y3 students through the creative process, helping them craft their own fables. This collaboration reinforced their storytelling, leadership, and communication skills while promoting critical thinking and analysis as they reflected on the impact of print media.
By engaging with the printing process and mentoring younger peers, students not only developed their creative and technical abilities but also gained a broader perspective on the role of storytelling and print in shaping societies, past and present.
