From South Africa, Uganda, NY, Haiti, and Egypt to H-FARM: Mischa’s Baggage

In an era where international education is becoming increasingly crucial, our students’ stories offer a unique glimpse into how institutions like H-FARM International School are shaping the next generation of global citizens.

Mischa perfectly embodies the essence of a true global citizen. His life journey, characterized by constant relocations and adaptations to new cultures, has taken him to live in vastly different places before arriving in Italy, such as Johannesburg, Uganda, New York, Haiti, and Egypt.

If it’s true that every journey we take carries more than just the miles traveled, enriching our life baggage with experiences and emotions, it’s also true that the objects we consider important or representative of our identity are never left behind.

Mischa’s most important objects are a basketball, which symbolizes his passion for sports and the discipline required to reach his goals; his team jersey, which reminds him that even defeats are shared by many in a team; and finally, a sugar packet with the phrase “keep calm and love” printed on the back, which serves as a reminder to remain calm and composed, even in times of great change or challenge.

With such a rich, varied background and a really strong desire to succeed, the innovative and  multicultural environment at H-FARM International School turned out to be the ideal choice for Mischa, especially because the school has been able to perfectly match his desire for an international education with the International Baccalaureate (IB) program, while offering the opportunity to experience boarding life.

Do you remember your first day at H-FARM? What were your first impressions of the environment and the school community?

“When I first arrived at H-FARM, all my classmates and boarding peers were really kind. The teachers were, too. I can confidently say that there was a warm and welcoming atmosphere. I felt at ease right away.”

Tell us about your relationship with the teachers and your classmates. How is it different from what you were used to?

“In my old schools, the relationship between teachers and students was very detached. Here at H-FARM International School, it’s completely different: the teachers are very open and interactive with us students. They really strive to engage us, and that’s something I appreciate a lot.
As for my classmates, the fact that everyone has such a diverse and unique story about their own origins helped me to settle in very quickly.”

Do you think the experience at H-FARM is helping you better prepare for future challenges?

“I’m convinced that my experience at H-FARM International School is preparing me both for university and for life in general. I believe that the international environment and the innovative approach are helping me find the right path to understand what I want to do in the future.”

Mischa’s Advice

“For those considering enrolling at H-FARM International School, don’t worry about the social challenges because everybody here is really friendly and pretty cool. So I wouldn’t worry about the social challenges at all.”
