Digital challenges and educational opportunities: dialogue between experts, parents and teachers

New generations are growing up in a hyper-connected world where digital technologies influence every aspect of their lives. While devices are powerful tools that can enhance learning and relationships, they also expose children to risks that cannot be overlooked. How can families and schools guide young people toward a responsible and safe use of technology? How can we address complex issues such as cyberbullying, online safety, and excessive screen time?

To tackle these challenges, H-FARM International School Rosà has organized a series of events titled “Growing Up in the Digital Age: Educating for Safe Technology Use.” The goal is to create a space where experts, teachers, and parents can engage in discussions to better understand the opportunities and risks of digital technology.

On April 1st, 6:00 PM – 7:30 PM, the first session will focus on cybersecurity and digital awareness, featuring Roberto Chiodi, a cybersecurity expert, and Elisa Miotti, an internal lecturer specializing in online child protection. Topics will include real digital threats such as phishing, hacking, data theft, and deepfakes, followed by practical strategies for securing devices and home networks. A key discussion point will be the importance of setting family rules for responsible technology use and preventing excessive screen time among young people.

The second talk is scheduled for April 8th, 6:00 PM – 7:30 PM. In this session, Ilaria Reato, an internal teacher and expert in bullying, cyberbullying, and digital education, will provide an overview of how social media platforms work and their underlying mechanisms. The discussion will highlight both the opportunities and the risks these tools present for young people, as well as strategies to prevent problematic use. Parents and educators will explore ways to support children in managing their online presence responsibly.

The last event will be held on May 15th, 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM. This final talk will be led by Dr. Vittoria Esposito, a lecturer in Law and Economics and a member of ANP Veneto. This discussion will focus on the role of parents in the digital era, offering practical tools to navigate the challenges and opportunities of today’s digital world. Special emphasis will be placed on digital culture, family communication, and fostering an open and balanced dialogue with children about technology use.

H-FARM International School has always been committed to supporting students, families, and educators in navigating the challenges of the digital age. Their approach combines awareness with practical tools, recognizing that digital education cannot be left solely to schools or the media—it requires a shared effort between parents, teachers, and students. These events offer an opportunity for families and educators to reflect on how to guide children toward a healthy and balanced relationship with technology, turning digital challenges into opportunities for growth and awareness.

The event is open to everyone, and registration can be completed via this link.
