H-FARM International School Rosà wins first place at the Cambridge Awards

We are thrilled to announce that H-FARM International School Rosà has secured first place in the Making a Difference in Primary category at the ninth edition of the Cambridge Preparation Centres Awards, organized by Cambridge University Press & Assessment. This recognition was awarded for our groundbreaking project, Design for Someone, which involved the creation of a robotic prosthetic arm using LEGO® Spike and artificial intelligence to assist individuals with disabilities.

The award ceremony took place on November 20 at Villa Wolkonsky in Rome, the residence of the British Ambassador to Italy. Representing our school at the event were Michell Lucato, our Language Certifications Coordinator, and Ruggero Cortese, Digital Learning Coach and creator of the winning project.

Design for Someone: innovation and inclusion through technology

The “Design for Someone” project engaged our Primary 5 students in developing a robotic prosthetic designed to aid individuals with disabilities. Utilizing LEGO® Spike and artificial intelligence, and guided by design thinking principles, students crafted a robotic arm, customizing grips for various objects and programming the device to perform basic commands.

This hands-on approach enhanced students’ technical skills and fostered essential soft skills such as teamwork and problem-solving. “Projects like “Design for Someone” exemplify how technology can serve as a catalyst for social innovation and inclusion, equipping students with the skills and responsibility to tackle future challenges effectively.

A Year of Achievements: recognized as an Apple Distinguished School

Complementing this significant accomplishment, H-FARM International School Rosà has been recently recognized as an Apple Distinguished School for the 2024-2027 period, acknowledging our commitment to promoting innovation and transforming teaching and learning through Apple technology. Notably, our school is the only first-cycle institution in Italy to be both as Cambridge International and Apple Distinguished School.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our dedicated teachers, whose passion and innovation drive these incredible achievements, and to our entire school community for fostering an environment of excellence and creativity. Together, we continue to shape a brighter, more inclusive future for our students and society.
