RoboQuest 2025: A Celebration of Teamwork, Creativity, and Innovation

By Flika Carvalho, PYP Teacher
On Saturday, 7th June, our school came alive with energy, focus, and excitement as students from PYP 4 & 5 and MYP 1 & 2 gathered for the first-ever RoboQuest event. Running from 10 am to 4 pm, the day was packed with robotics challenges that tested students’ abilities to collaborate, problem-solve, and innovate under pressure—and it was a tremendous success.
Teams worked tirelessly to design, build, and program robots capable of tackling a variety of tasks. Whether navigating obstacle courses, using sensors to follow lines, or completing pick-up and placement challenges, students showed impressive determination, creativity, and teamwork throughout the day.
What stood out most—beyond the robotics—was the students’ mindset. They demonstrated not only growing technical skills but also a deepening understanding of the importance of communication, resilience, and shared responsibility in group success.
When asked what worked well for their team, students shared thoughtful reflections like:
“Communication really helped us stay on track—we listened to each other and built on each other’s ideas.”
“Teamwork was key. We understood the problem together, and everyone contributed to finding the solution.”
“We all agreed on our design and coding decisions, which made our team stronger.”
When asked what they learned, the answers were as diverse as they were inspiring:
“I learned how to code a line-following robot—and I didn’t know I could build a working robot in just three hours!”
“I’ve never been great at coding, but this made me realise that if I really focus and work hard, I can do it.”
“I found out that robotics needs a lot of teamwork and brainpower—it’s not just about building, it’s about thinking, problem-solving, and staying patient.”
“It’s not about doing everything fast—it’s about doing it together.”
The energy and enthusiasm extended beyond the students. Parents came out in full force, cheering teams on, helping out where needed, and adding to the incredibly positive and encouraging atmosphere. One parent said, “It was wonderful to see our children take ownership of their learning and support one another so naturally. The collaboration and joy were contagious.”
RoboQuest 2025 wasn’t just a robotics event—it was a celebration of learning in its truest form. It demonstrated how hands-on challenges can ignite curiosity, build confidence, and foster deeper relationships among students, teachers, and families.
We are incredibly proud of what our students accomplished and grateful to all who contributed to making the day so special. From teamwork and coding to cheering each other on, RoboQuest brought out the very best in everyone—and we’re already looking forward to the next one!
