Be safe online: il progetto di Andy contro il cyberbullismo

Have you ever thought the Internet was just fun and games, until someone got hurt?

“Be safe online, avoid cyberbullies.”
These are the closing words of Andy’s Personal Project — a clear and powerful message from a young student who chose to explore one of the most urgent issues of our digital age: cyberbullying.

His message is simple, but meaningful. Behind those few words lies a journey of awareness and research, where Andy learned how and why some people use the internet to hurt others. He explored the strategies of cyberbullies, what drives them — often a need to feel strong or to hide their own sadness — and decided he didn’t want to repeat those same mistakes.
“I don’t want to regret hurting someone,” he says. That’s where his project was born: a call to reflect and to protect ourselves and others online.

A real problem, starting at a young age

Cyberbullying is not a marginal phenomenon. According to UNICEF, more than 1 in 3 teenagers has experienced cyberbullying, and many children face online insults or exclusion as early as elementary school.
The consequences? Anxiety, isolation, low self-esteem, and difficulty at school — long-lasting effects that can impact a young person’s emotional development.

That’s why it’s essential to start talking about respect online from an early age, helping children identify harmful behavior and act mindfully. Andy’s project does just that.

A small project, a powerful message

Through visuals, words, and direct messages, Andy turned his work into an educational tool capable of raising awareness among peers and adults alike.
His choice shows that it’s never too early to face important topics — and that even the youngest can help build a safer, more respectful Internet.

His final message sticks with you: “Be safe online.”
Because navigating the web should be a positive experience — free from judgment and fear.
And that change begins right here.
