Council of International Schools

The Council of International Schools (CIS) is a global membership community of schools and higher education institutions, exploring and developing effective practices to foster healthy, interculturally competent global citizens.

The Council of International Schools (CIS) is a worldwide membership community that is shaping the future of international education, comprising over 1,545 schools and universities from 124 countries. Its international accreditation process is notably stringent, requiring adherence to and alignment with the association’s Code of Ethics. This Code incorporates the United Nations Declaration of Human Rights as a clear moral directive and includes the recommendations of the International Task Force on Child Protection.

From 2024, H-FARM International School Vicenza is a school member of the Council of International Schools.

Accreditation by the Council of International Schools is globally acknowledged as a mark of excellence in international education. It is tailored for schools seeking to incorporate self-assessment and external review into their ongoing development efforts.

In Italy, the Council of International Schools currently includes 14 member schools, 9 of which offer International Baccalaureate programmes.

The association places great importance on finding the most suitable type of school for each student. To assist in this process, it aims to support parents and students in making informed decisions by identifying specific areas of interest.

CIS member schools must adhere to the Code of Ethics, which details the moral principles that should guide their conduct and professional practices.

Specifically, all CIS member schools are required to:

  • Honor the commitments made in their guiding statements, policies, contracts, and promotional materials;
  • Strive for academic excellence;
  • Cultivate a culture of care prioritizing the education, safety, and well-being of students and others;
  • Comply with applicable laws and regulations;
  • Respect the dignity and equality of all individuals, groups, and cultures;
  • Promote global citizenship.
