A Nobel Perspective – Rethinking Education with Carl Wieman
A special event is coming to H-FARM. This Friday at 2:30 PM, we will have the privilege of hosting Carl Wieman, Nobel Prize–winning physicist and professor at Stanford University, one of the most influential figures worldwide in scientific research and educational innovation. The event is open to the whole school community
Wieman, awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 2001 for his pioneering work in atomic physics, has devoted a significant part of his career to understanding how people learn and to improving educational models, particularly in the STEM fields. His work has helped reshape the way science is taught, placing scientific evidence, active engagement, and more effective approaches for new generations at the center.
During the event, titled “The Education Shift We Need for the 21st Century,” he will offer a thought-provoking perspective on a question that is as simple as it is crucial: why do many scientific subjects still fail to engage students today? Starting from this reflection, he will explore the limitations of traditional teaching models and share practical insights on how to make learning more dynamic, meaningful, and relevant in today’s world.
The event represents a unique opportunity to connect directly with a leading figure in global science, while also reflecting on how the ways we teach and learn are rapidly evolving.
