Lower Secondary School
Lower Secondary School aims to help students discover their passions and talents, to train active, open-minded young people capable of developing ideas and projects in a globally connected world. Students are constantly encouraged in their personal and academic growth through modern and stimulating teaching methods.
Students will start to consider different learning approaches, depending on the subject their addressing. Studying in a different language means being trained in multiple methods of investigation, study methods, and evaluations.

Requirements
Lower Secondary School at H-FARM International School Rosà welcomes students coming from all primary schools – both public and private – whether they are international or Italian schools. To guarantee the possibility to take full advantage of the H-FARM International School educational opportunities, many of which require a high level of English we designed an initial welcoming period, addressed to those students coming from a traditional Italian primary school.
The number of hours dedicated to English Language Acquisition, together with other activities that will involve mother tongue teachers, will guarantee continuous improvement of language skills and students’ lexical extension.

The School aims to develop in the students the autonomy when studying and the ability to deal with problems and make decisions, initiating them into critical thinking. Working both alone and in groups, the students enhance their research skills and learn to organize their work efficiently and effectively.
The School promotes the conscious use of new digital technologies and in particular those that are most functional for educational activities. Through these tools it aims to create an environment that allows the development of the social dimension of learning by enabling students to operate through various forms of interaction and collaboration to build new knowledge.
Students are involved in activities that lead them to feel responsible and caring toward others, making them acquire a mental attitude of respect and soliciting concrete solidarity initiatives.
This involves promoting the physical and spiritual well-being of students, making them aware of their personal identity and fostering their socio-affective development. This can be achieved with the contribution of multiple disciplines, through reflection on issues related to the transition from childhood to adolescence.
An appreciation will be developed in children for man’s ability to invent, create, transform and improve the quality of life. For example, the role of the creative mind can be highlighted by studying the impact of technological inventions on the evolution of social, economic and political systems in different geographical contexts or on modes of artistic expression.

All these activities, together with the curricular disciplinary teachings, aim to contribute significantly to the CIVIC COMPETENCE of children, introducing them to the knowledge of sociopolitical concepts and structures and accustoming them, also through good daily practices, to an active and democratic commitment to the welfare of the community.
