Changing course to chase a dream: Francesco, sailing and the wind blowing towards Australia

Changing course to chase a dream: Francesco, sailing and the wind blowing towards Australia

Francesco is 16 and has had his eyes on the sea since he was 6. For him, sailing is not just a sport he competes in at a high level: it is a school of discipline, patience and determination that has been part of his life for many years now.

Until recently, he attended a liceo scientifico in Pescara. Then, during an open day, he visited our Venice Campus and it was love at first sight. It was far from an easy choice: leaving his hometown, his family and his friends to start again somewhere new. But Francesco decided to change course, with the same confidence he brings to every regatta.

Here he saw the chance to open new doors for his future. His goal is clear: to go on to university in Australia. At the same time, he found a school pathway designed around his needs, allowing him to keep up with his intense, daily training without compromising the quality of his studies.

The determination Francesco shows on the water, he also brings to the classroom. It is precisely this balance between sport and school that allows him to achieve excellent results in both, proving that passion and commitment can sail in the same direction.

A story of courage, vision and plenty of favourable winds, and one we are delighted to share.

Fair winds, Francesco: we are proud of you!
